Earthtides II is the beautiful follow up to 2022's Earthtides I, released via Whitelabrecs. The album expands on the many themes of Earthtides I, delving deeper into the unique sonic pairing of James and Matt. Lush beds of ambience, found sound, field recordings and minimalist electronics meld together creating deeply moving sonic landscapes.

For this album the duo switched roles with James providing the initial guitar loops which formed the foundations of the album. Matt responded by keeping things delicate and spacious, allowing these beautiful guitar loops room to breathe. Embracing the melancholy notes and progressions that he coaxes from his instruments.

Matt Atkins is a London based sound artists who creates minimalist sound collages using a wide variety of sound sources. He runs the Minimal Resource Manipulation label and his music has been released on labels such as Rusted Tone Recordings, Flaming Pines and Complex Holiday.

Slow Clinic is the solo recording project of James Edward Armstrong. He runs the cassette label Rusted Tone Recordings and has released music on labels including Champion Version, Whitelabrecs and Assembly Fields.

have yet to translate the song titles so the artist's intentions are somewhat of a mystery to me, but the wavering surface noise creates the theme of a dialogue between music & technology before becoming invisible to my ears. this conjures memories of listening to music as a child (long before the sterility of digital media), when i rarely took notice of the hiss & pops of records, 8-tracks, tapes, & am radio because they were a normal, necessary aspect of recorded sound. nice to be back again.
